Digital Time Communications successfully conducted the first community event of the SAFER Project on February 13, 2024, at the Faiza-ul-Islam Technical Institute’s Auditorium in Faizabad, Islamabad. The event aimed to raise awareness about the risks of irregular migration from Pakistan to Europe and to encourage young, single men aged 18 to 30 to explore local opportunities in skills development, job placement, and enterprise development.
Over 60 participants attended the event, featuring expert speaker Mr. Zain ul Abideen, who provided insights into the legal, financial, and personal safety risks associated with irregular migration. He also highlighted the importance of exploring diverse opportunities within Pakistan and discussed issues related to scams, smugglers, and the need to preserve cultural identity in the face of potential discrimination abroad.
Zurehma Ayesha Rameez, a diaspora member studying in Italy, shared her experiences regarding the challenges faced by Pakistani migrants, including language barriers, racism, and access to halal food.
The audience, mainly composed of unmarried males, actively engaged during the session, asking questions and participating in discussions.
Documentation from the event included images, videos, and feedback questionnaires, which indicated a significant increase in participants' awareness about migration risks and opportunities in Pakistan.
Overall, the event was well-received, with valuable insights gained by the attendees, laying the groundwork for future awareness campaigns.
