Digital Time Communications organized the 1st community event of the SAFER Project on February 27, 2024, at the Government Technical Training Institute in Jhelum, Punjab. The event aimed to raise awareness about the risks of irregular migration to Europe and to highlight opportunities for young men aged 18 to 30 in Pakistan.
Around 80 participants attended the event, where Mr. Zain ul Abideen, an expert in youth counseling and migration issues, provided insights on the risks of irregular migration, including legal, financial, and personal safety concerns. He emphasized local opportunities in Pakistan, covering topics such as scams, preserving cultural identity, and understanding market dynamics.
Zurehma Ayesha Rameez, a Pakistani student in Italy, shared her experiences and challenges faced by migrants, including language barriers and cultural issues.
The event also featured an entertaining segment showcasing memorable cricket moments, which resonated well with the audience, enhancing their emotional connection and sense of patriotism.
Participants enjoyed lunch after the presentations, and feedback collected via questionnaires indicated a significant increase in awareness regarding migration risks and local opportunities.
Overall, the event was successful in educating attendees and will inform future campaigns, with documentation collected to evaluate its impact.
