Digital Time Communications successfully hosted the 1st SAFER Project community event on March 11, 2024, at the Balochistan Boys Scouts Association in Quetta, Balochistan. The event aimed to raise awareness about the risks of irregular migration from Pakistan to Europe while inspiring young, single men aged 18 to 30 to explore local opportunities for skills development, job placement, and entrepreneurship.
Approximately 87 participants attended the event, which featured Mr. Zakir Ali, an entrepreneur and trainer, as the main speaker. He emphasized the importance of vocational training and entrepreneurship while discussing the perils of irregular migration. Mr. Ammar Qureshi, the guest speaker from PITAC, underscored the importance of seeking opportunities within Pakistan instead of risking dangerous migration.
Zurehma Ayesha Rameez, a diaspora member studying in Italy, shared her experiences and insights into the challenges faced by Pakistanis in Europe, including issues with language, culture, and exploitation by fake agents.
The event included an engaging session where attendees could ask questions, fostering an interactive environment. Participants enjoyed an entertainment segment showcasing cricket highlights, which boosted their spirit of patriotism.
Lunch was provided, and feedback gathered through pre- and post-event questionnaires indicated a significant increase in awareness about migration risks and opportunities in Pakistan. Overall, the event was well-received, contributing valuable insights and motivation to the participants while setting a positive precedent for future initiatives.
