Digital Time Communications successfully conducted the 1st SAFER Project community event on March 25, 2024, at the Main Community Centre in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The event aimed to raise awareness about the risks associated with irregular migration to Europe and to inspire young, single men aged 18 to 30 to explore opportunities for skills development, job placement, and enterprise development within Pakistan.
Approximately 80 participants attended, engaging actively with the speakers. Mr. Anees ur Rehman, a youth development expert and public speaker, delivered a presentation in Pashto, focusing on the risks of irregular migration and emphasizing the opportunities available in Pakistan. Junaid Shah, a diaspora member from Kohat now living in Italy, shared his experiences, highlighting challenges faced by migrants such as language barriers and scams by fake agents.
The audience, which included youth from surrounding villages, showed a keen interest in spreading the message among their peers. The event also included an entertaining segment featuring cricket highlights, fostering a spirit of patriotism.
Participants enjoyed lunch boxes with traditional foods, adhering to the customs of Ramadan. Feedback collected through questionnaires indicated a significant increase in awareness regarding migration risks and local opportunities.
Overall, the event was well-received, providing valuable insights and setting the stage for future awareness initiatives in the region.
